Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests show the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior official commented the attack left him speechless and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
